Good songs! Folks have been writing and playing them for a lot longer than I
can remember. 1,000 years or so, probably more. You could spend a whole life
time singing and playing other people's songs and never need to write one of
your own. Plenty of people do. There are so many good songs out there I
sometimes wonder why I bother to write at all. I don't really have a good
answer to that one. I could get all self-analytical but this is neither the
time nor the place. I do know that hanging around playing good songs with
good friends is about as much fun as you can have with your pants on. So when
the opportunity comes along to do so - with friends who have as much talent
as Dan Grant, Cathy Bell and Richard Evans I'd be a fool not to do so - as often
as I could.
So that's us, The Full Quid, in the photo above (with pants on - note).
That's Dan with the lascivious grin on the left. Dan who can sing and play
more good songs than just about anyone else on the planet - with the possible
exception of Richard. That's him on the right. Cathy and I just jump on and
try to hang on for the ride and try to find the harmonies on the chorus. You
take the high road and I take the low road. Occasionally Cath throws in a jig
or a reel and I throw a song in too. Of course we're talking about the
pantheon here - namely Lennon & McCartney, Dylan, Jagger
& Richards, Van the Person, Neil Young, Springsteen, and to add a little
antipodean perspective, Paul Kelly, Neil Finn, Mick Thomas. I think you get
the drift. That great old writer Trad Arr usually manages to sneak a few into the sets as well.
Stuff that works Guy Clark calls it:
Stuff that holds up
The kind of stuff you don't hang on the wall
Stuff that's real, stuff you feel,
The kind of stuff you reach for when you fall.
We love what we do and we think it shows when we play. We're available for
gigs around South East Queensland (and further afield
if you want us) playing some of our favourite songs
and maybe some of yours too. It's not that sequenced shit. These are real
songs sung by real people with real instruments. For more information on
where we are playing, see the gig guide below. Come along. Say hello and if
you're having a get together or run a venue or agency you should book us -
we're good! Hell we'll even try and play requests, as long as we know it of
course and as long as it isn't total crap. For a detailed music industry bio
and song list follow the links at the side.
